Chalong Bay!

I arrived in Phuket with my new found passion for the intertidal zone and drastically reduced tourism numbers. Phuket was like a paradise. Empty beaches, restaurants and ecosystems. I began making myself at home. I contacted a local NGO with a fabulous reputation for making interesting things happen on the ground. Plastic collecting boats and shark breeding, Oceans for all are a force of nature and have created some fascinating projects in such a short time!

License to clean!

I met with David and Chrystelle on an Enhalus seagrass bed in Chalong to pick some seeds to be propagated at the Pullman Panwa. Having never picked the seeds I was hungry to learn and was soon racing around the various plants distributed throughout the bay knee deep in mud I was having the time of my life. We searched for 2hrs and between the 5 of us we found no seeds. Although we where unable to find the precious seeds I was seduced by the hunt and thought nothing of why a seemingly large Enhalus seagrass meadow produced no seeds?
